WBC #4 welterweight Manuel "Shotgun" Gomez (28-10-2, 20 KOs) was unable to defeat late sub Jesus Soto-Karass (11-3-2, 10 KOs) on Friday night at Ft. McDowell Casino in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Gomez seemed to hurt Soto-Karass in round two, but also surprisingly struggled as Soto-Karass gave as good as he got in most rounds. Scores were 97-93, 95-95, 95-95.
